GW hosts Corporate Paralegal Education Conference: May 20-21

The George Washington University is hosting the Corporate Paralegal Education Program in Washington, DC on May 20 and 21, 2010.

The curriculum for this conference includes contracts, document management, litigation management from the corporate counsel's perspective and the outside counsel’s perspective, corporate governance, and much more. The faculty for this event includes:

RUSSELL R. CLARK, JD
RUSSELL R. CLARK, JDProfessor Clark is an attorney engaged in corporate, business transactions, contracts, technology transfer and financial services/institution matters. He has represented clients in various commercial transactions, financial services/institution matters, and software, hardware, communications, motion pictures and entertainment transactions. He has also been involved in legislative lobbying and regulatory advocacy at the federal and state levels.

CHERYL MILLER JOHNS, JD, LLM (IP)
CHERYL MILLER JOHNS, JD, LLMProfessor Johns is Assistant Chief Counsel for Telecommunications and Technology at US Small Business Administration, Office of Advocacy. Prior to that, she was the manager of regulatory affairs at France Telecom North America; a law clerk for the US Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights; an intern at the US Department of Justice, National Criminal Enforcement Section, and a legislative assistant at Sun Microsystems. Professor Johns is currently serving a detail at the United States Senate directing telecommunications and IP issues for the US Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, chaired by Senator Mary L. Landrieu.

TARA KIM EBERHART, RP
TARA KIM EBERHART, RPProfessor Eberhart is the Paralegal Manager at McKenna Long & Aldridge's Washington DC office. Prior to that, she was a senior paralegal specializing in intellectual property at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Professor Eberhart is a past president of the National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA) and a member of the advisory boards of NCAPA and The George Washington University. She is an active member of the International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA)

TONI MARSH, JD
TONI MARSH, JDProfessor Marsh is the director of The George Washington University Paralegal Studies master's degree and graduate certificate programs and an Associate Professor of American Jurisprudence and Legal Writing. Prior to joining GW, Professor Marsh designed and directed the paralegal studies program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and taught litigation and contracts at Georgetown University. Professor Marsh has practiced criminal and juvenile law for nineteen years and is the author of Juvenile Law (2006).

MARY BETH DAVIES
MARY BETH DAVIESMary Beth Davies has been the paralegal manager at DuPont for 13 years. She and DuPont General Counsel Thomas L. Sager are the creators of the famous and innovative DuPont Model for paralegal utilization, which has been adopted by corporate legal offices and private law firms throughout the country. A tireless advocate for the increased use of paralegals, she is the co-author of The New Reality: Turning Risk into Opportunity through the DuPont Legal Model and The Dollars and $ense of Paralegal Utilization: The DuPont Paralegal Utilization Model.

Approval is pending for 12 Continuing Legal Education credits by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) and National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).
